What we set up
A working library and a working hostel, one database
Core Odoo has no library app, so we are direct about what is configured and what is built: contracts, invoicing, stock and contacts are standard; circulation is a module we develop against a written spec.

How it fits together
One person, one record, across library and hostel
Campuses usually keep a library ledger, a hostel register and an accounting file that never agree on who owes what. In Odoo the student is one contact: the same record borrows the book, holds the room contract and receives the invoice, so dues from both sides appear on one statement.

We watch an issue-return hour at the library and a move-in day at the hostel before configuring anything.

Fine rates, deposit deductions and guest rules are written down and approved, then configured to apply evenly.

A campus system succeeds on details: fines, deposits, meters and minors' data. These are the points we put on the table first.

There is no library app in standard Odoo
Circulation is custom development. We specify it in writing, build it as an isolated module with tests, and hand over the source, so you are not locked to us.

Catalog migration is the heavy lift
Thousands of titles with inconsistent records take longer to clean than the module takes to build. We budget that time openly instead of hiding it.

Meter billing needs a reading routine
Utility charges are only as accurate as the readings. We set up fast manual entry, or an automated feed where your meters allow it.

RFID is optional and priced separately
Barcode covers most libraries. RFID gates and self-checkout are a hardware project of their own, added when the volume justifies it.

Student data needs PDPA care
Records of students, including minors, fall under Thailand's PDPA. Access rights, consent records and retention rules are part of the setup, not an afterthought.

Deposit disputes need paper
Refund arguments end quickly when the move-in checklist, photos and deductions are on the contract record. The system provides the paper; the policy is yours.

FAQ
Questions clients ask first
Does Odoo have a library management module?
Not in the standard apps. We build circulation as a custom module on Odoo's contact, product and invoicing base: cataloging, barcode issue and return, fines and reservations. It is specified in writing, tested, and delivered with source code, so your institution owns it and any partner can maintain it.
Can it bill room rent, water and electricity together?
Yes. Each resident's monthly invoice combines rent from the contract with metered water and electricity charges, plus any fines or extras, and reminders go out automatically when it falls due. The accuracy of utility lines depends on the meter reading routine, which we design to take minutes per floor.
Can students see and pay their dues online?
Yes. The portal shows each student their borrowed books, due dates, room invoices and outstanding balance, and every invoice carries a PromptPay QR or card link. Payments reconcile to the right record automatically, so the office stops matching bank slips by hand.
Do we need RFID, or is barcode enough?
Barcode is enough for most libraries: issue, return and stock-takes all run on inexpensive scanners. RFID adds self-checkout and gate detection at a real hardware cost, so we recommend starting with barcode and adding RFID only when circulation volume justifies it. The module supports both, so the upgrade path stays open.
How long does a campus implementation take?
One side, the library or the hostel, typically fits the six-to-twelve-week range, with the circulation module and catalog cleanup driving the library timeline. The second side is faster because the student records and accounting already exist. You get a phased timeline after scoping, not before.
