What to weigh before a factory rollout
An MRP project succeeds or fails on data and discipline, not on features. These are the points we put on the table first.

Your BOMs must be true first
MRP plans from the BOM you give it. If the floor builds differently from the file, we fix the BOMs during implementation — that work is real and we scope it.

Not an APS engine
Odoo schedules by lead times and work center capacity. It does not run advanced constraint-based optimization; factories that live on sequencing algorithms should know that up front.

Quality, PLM and MPS need Enterprise
Community covers BOMs, manufacturing orders and stock. Formal quality checks, engineering change approvals and the master production schedule are Enterprise apps.

Machine data is an integration
Reading counters or weights from PLCs, scales and CNC machines is custom work per protocol. Odoo has the API; the wiring to your machines is a scoped project.

Costing method is a decision
Standard, FIFO or average costing changes what your margins mean, and switching later is painful. We decide it with your accountant before configuration, not after.

Yes. BOMs nest to any depth, each level with its own operations, work centers, byproducts and scrap rates, and variants share a BOM where only attributes differ. We import your BOMs with routings and clean them against how the floor actually builds.
Does Odoo show the real cost of a manufacturing order?
Yes. Each order accumulates materials at your valuation method, labor from recorded operation time and overhead from work center rates, and landed costs put duty and freight into imported materials. The method itself is decided with your accountant before setup.
Do we need Odoo Enterprise for manufacturing?
Not always. Community covers BOMs, manufacturing orders, stock and purchasing at a $0 license. Quality checks, PLM, the master production schedule and the shop floor terminal are Enterprise apps, billed per user by Odoo, and we will say which ones you actually need.
How long does a manufacturing implementation take?

Can Odoo connect to our machines and scales?
